How it all began

My journey into animal communication actually started with a healthy does of scepticism.

I had a reading done with my two horses, Ash and Diva, out of curiosity by an animal communicator in South Australia.  I was intrigued, but I wasn't sure whether animal communication was really something people could do.

What came through during that reading changed the way I looked at my horses - and at animal communication itself.

Ash communicated that I didn't need this lady to tell me anything because we were already communicating.

Then Diva shared something that stopped me in my tracks.  She wanted me to know that was happy and that I didn't need to worry about whether she was happy.  Instead, Diva wanted me to ask myself if I was happy.

At that point in my life, my own happiness was something I kept very much to myself.  I hadn't been talking about it with anyone, and I certainly hadn't been showing people what was going on beneath the surface.

I didn't know what to say.

That experience stayed with me.

Learning to listen

Over the years, more horses came into my life, including Remi.

Another animal communication reading brought a message that I didn't fully understand at the time: that I was already communicating with my animals, but I simply thought what I was receiving was coming from me.

Then came an experience with Remi that I couldn't easily explain away.

We were away at a riding retreat, and during a demonstration Remi suddenly became extremely unsettled.  Nothing obvious had happened to cause it.  I checked through everything I could think of, but couldn't work out what had upset her.

Eventually I quietly asked her:

"Remi, what was that all about?"

Almost immediately, I received a very clear image in my mind of the yard where she was staying.

It was a percectly good yard - spacious, shaded and one of the larger yards available.  But Remi didn't see it that way.  She was telling me very clearly that she didn't want to be stuck in a yard.

I knew the thought hadn't come from me.

I acknowledged what she'd communicated, and just like that, she settled.

It was one of those moments that made me stop and really listen.

From curiosity to learning

My experiences with my own animals continued to deepen my curiosity about animal communication and energetic work.

Eventually, I became a student of one of the animal communicators I'd worked with and began formally studying animal communication myself.

Through that learning journey, I discovered just how individual every animal is.  No two connections are the same, and I never know exactly what an animal will choose to share.

That's one of the things I love most about this work.

Why I do this

I've experienced first-hand how valuable animal communication can be.

Sometimes it can bring reassurance or peace of mind.  Sometimes it can offer another perspective when you're trying to understand a situation or make a decision.  And sometimes it can simply give you the opportunity to hear more about the animal you love.

Animals can also be surprisingly funny, cheeky, opinionated and full of personality.

I've seen how understanding an animal's perspective can change the way their person sees them - and sometimes that shift in the understanding can transform their relationship.

For me, the most beautiful part is getting to know the animal behind the behaviour.

Every animal has a story, and every connection is different.

I feel incredibly privileged to be able to listen to those stories and help bring greater understanding, connection, peace of mind and reassurance between animals and the people who love them.

Meet Jane

The person behind Mai Animal Connection

Hi, I'm Jane.

Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I've always felt strongly that animals are individuals in their own right - with their own personalities, thoughts, feelings, preferences and experiences.  I've never believed that simply because an animal lives alongside us, they should automatically do whatever we expect of them.

I've also always been fascinated by how much animals understand, and by just how much they tolerate from us humans.

Life with animals

At home, animals are very much part of our family.

I live with my partner and daughter on 10 acres, along with five horses, my daughter's pony, two cats, two fallow deer, three chickens and a rooster.

So when I say animals have always been a big part of my life, I really mean it.

Every animal has a voice.  Sometimes, they just need someone willing to listen.
